These are the art direction boards I have created for the progress crit tomorrow, to present my ideas in a more visual manner than last, and start to work out where I want to go with my 10 graphic products. My main idea is for a japanese bento restaurant/takeaway, similar to something like Pret A Manger or Wagamama. I want it to be quite fun and directional, as one thing I learnt is that in japanese cuisine, aesthetics are just as important as the actual food, which I feel should be reflected in my final designs. My colour palette so far is white, black, red and green, as I know that these are colours often associated with Japan, and also because they have positive associations in Japanese culture.
I want to use both photographic and illustrative elements in my final products, so that it looks fresh and creative, and attracts a similar market to Pret a Manger or Yo Sushi.
I'm looking forward to exploring ideas for innovative bento packaging, and for attempting my first proper logo design. I wanted to choose the Japanese theme for this project as I feel there are a lot of interesting facts in terms of food, and visually, their culture is incredibly vibrant and exciting, which creates a lot of inspiration.
