Communication is A Virus

For our new brief we're working in a small group to create something based around the statement 'get people to give more'.
The graphic response to the statement needs to be something interactive and engaging, and work well as a live response.
I'll be working in a group with Lisa, Joel and Greg.

At the moment we are all working on researching different ideas so we can come together and finalise our idea for Friday, where we have to present concept boards in our Crit.
In our first discussion yesterday, we all agreed on exploring the idea of giving, and came up with different things that people could give, such as time, money, food, shelter, knowledge etc, but at the moment everything is very broad and not especially specific.
Because of the nature of the brief being something involving and engaging, whatever we produce needs to be interesting, unique and have some level of freshness that will intrigue people and encourage them to participate.

I've had a few ideas which I'm really not sure about at the moment, although one that I want to discuss with the group tomorrow is about opening a sort of pop up shop/auction house within an abandoned retail space, where people would be invited to come and auction their time and skills to the community to promote the rebuilding of it.
A community project would engage and encourage the audience, and would have a substance to it, and in the context of the current economic climate it could be feasible, as many high streets and communities have been suffering, we would just have to promote it in a really clever and refreshing style, and not make it feel too preachy or gimmicky.
Community action has worked well before, especially via social networking sites, for example the clean up operation that happened after the London riots, which was started as a trending topic on Twitter.

I am going to research into other community projects, such as the People's Supermarket, and also how social networking could be involved, as well as print media.
