After having the chance to see everyone else's work, I understand that mine seems to have come from a completely different interpretation of the brief. When I first read it, I confused myself by questioning whether their definition meant an actual typeface, or an A is for, B is for style of presentation. As I don't see myself as being very strong in the craft of type, I decided to work in an illustrative manner, although I was still struggling to translate myself into the work. After doing research online, and looking at others who had used illustration in their alphabet, in particular one which was based around rock star hair, I began asking others what defined me as a person. Sadly, the main answer was Friends/TV obsessed, which is why this became my central theme.
I do think though that the style of the illustration, handcrafted using pen and ink, and drawn in a scribbly scruffy style does reflect the way I work in general and adds another dimension to the alphabet. I'm unsure if given the digital resources I would have created a type using photoshop, as I do love and more comfortable hand drawing things.
