DSLR Induction

We had our DSLR induction, which was really great because I really want to be able to use them, and actually know about all the settings. This session gave us a chance to explore the different modes, and the different techniques used in photography to get different effects.

He explained the functions aperture, shutter speed and ISO to us, and also some other important functions the cameras have that we may need to use, such as the light setting.

Aperture controls the opening and closing of the iris in the lense, so that it either lets more or less light into the photo. It also controls the depth of field(the area of focus) in the image you create.
Shutter speed controls how long the image of exposed for, and can create an effect of movement in your image.
ISO controls the amount of light the camera is sensitive to, and for our images we set the ISO to 100.

We got a chance to experiment with all of these controls, and also different kinds of lenses, including a telephoto lense which allowed us to zoom way in to our image and create a huge amount of detail, which looked really good on the photos. I'm really happy with the images I took, which I've put into contact sheets.

Here are some of my favourite images I took.
