We had a photoshop workshop that was really helpful in showing us how to work in CMYK mode, which is required for a postcard brief relating to this module.
Firstly, you need an image open in photoshop, go to the view option and go on proof colours, to check that you are working in CMYK mode.
Then, you need to click on gamut warning, which will show you which parts of the image are not in
cmyk mode.
The grey areas highlight what needs adjusting to make sure it prints in the correct colours, and you can experiment with adjustment layers to correct the grey areas.
Hue and saturation worked really well, and allowed a lot of experimentation with the images in terms of colour and the brightness etc.
We also learnt how to prepare images for web, which requires lowering the image size via the image size option.
The images need resampling, with the resolution at 300dpi, and the pixels reduced in size, to around 1500 pixels - the computer automates the other pixel measurement.
We also learnt how to create a file that automates preparing images for web so that you can have photoshop do all your work for you, which will be a useful tool for blogging and for web design.
Here are some images I used to start experimenting with for the photoshop brief.
