Collaborative Practice: Design Development

I was given the task of working on the design of the envelopes for the UK Greetings brief. Because our cards are based on Romance, although a somewhat distorted version of it, we thought it would be appropriate to try and communicate this through the design of the envelope, either through the actual design or the format.
When researching the formats of envelopes, we came across this.

Through the folding of the paper heart it can be easily turned into an envelope that would fit an A6 card, which was our ideal format for the brief. We have decided that we will use this shape for our envelopes because it is relevant to our designs and also adds an extra element to our cards that could be kept, making the cards interactive and special.

I then made a smaller sized mock up of how the design works and how it should be folded. Certain measurements will be required to ensure it fits an A6 Postcard style greetings card inside it, but the folding of the heart is simple, and I think if we perhaps create a sticker or have something on the inside of the card that will make the recipient curious then they will be inclined to unfold the heart to find it.
